Overview

Fisherman Frank’s West Coast Seafood stands out as a beacon of fresh, local seafood on Third Ave in Richmond, BC. This seafood restaurant, operated out of a food truck, offers a unique culinary experience that celebrates the bounty of the West Coast. The standout feature here is the direct connection to the sea—Frank himself is a fisherman, ensuring that what lands on your plate is caught fresh or sourced from trusted local fishermen.

The menu, while succinct, is thoughtfully crafted to showcase the best of the region’s seafood. The Cascadian Salmon Sandwich, often highlighted by customers, delivers a vibrant taste of wild salmon paired simply with fresh tomato and crisp lettuce. The sandwich is noted for its freshness and quality, reflecting the commitment to premium ingredients and authentic flavors. For those seeking variety, the grilled scallops with a well-balanced tangy sauce offer another highlight, emphasizing skillful preparation and respect for the ingredient’s natural taste.

Fisherman Frank’s is not a typical sit-down restaurant. The space is limited to standing areas, creating a casual atmosphere focused on quick enjoyment rather than prolonged dining. This setup suits the location perfectly—situated near the fisherman’s wharf and Steveston Warf, it caters to locals, seafood enthusiasts, and supporters of sustainable, local fisheries. The experience feels authentic and unpretentious, marked by Frank’s friendly presence and the straightforward freshness of the seafood.

Though some consider the prices on the higher side, the quality and traceability of the seafood justify the cost. Guests appreciate the premium nature of the food and the opportunity to support local fishermen directly. A few minor hiccups, such as encountering a stray fish bone, don’t diminish the overall positive experience that continues to draw repeat visitors.

In essence, Fisherman Frank’s West Coast Seafood is ideal for those who prioritize fresh, locally sourced seafood served with honest simplicity. It invites patrons to savor the gifts of the sea within a raw, bustling environment that mirrors the rugged charm of the West Coast itself.

The Blackberry Ginger Fizz was delicious and refreshing. The quality and taste of the Casacadian Salmon Sandwich was great. A bit pricy but you do get good quality. The only reason I took a star away from five stars is I found two fish bones in my salmon fillet while chomping down. Otherwise was a good experience.

Amazing food. We tried the Cascadian dish which is wild salmon in a bun with tomato and lettuce. All of us (3) loved it. Frank is a very pleasant guy. He is a fisherman and he is selling seafood that he catches. So everything there is very fresh. We will come back for sure . We also want to support local fishermen. Highly recommending.

I read an article about Frank's food truck and thought to try his food and give him a support. I love that he is serving fresh local food that either he catches or buys from local fishermen. I tried salmon sandwich Cascadian and it was delicious. It is not cheap but this is high end food. Will come back for sure.

Visited this establishment after purchasing some amazing catch at the fisherman’s wharf. This truck has a small nice menu serving the local catch. I got the grilled scallops which was very well cooked and their secret sauce was tangy and complemented the scallops well. The food in my opinion is a little pricey and there is no sitting area only standing areas. Overall with all things considered, it was nice experience.

Great food - liked everything we ordered but gave it a star less for the price. Very expensive given it is a food truck plus the seafood is sourced by Frank's boat.

The freshness and quality are outstanding. Thank you for being local and sustainable! I shall certainly return. As much as I love bacon, I think I would loose it on the shrimp/crab bun.. it was too chewie paired with the delicate delectable seafood. Salmon Berger.. perfect! Spot prawn skewers..divine.. but I really needed a fork?!? for the lovely coleslaw?!? Ice tea..bland! A little disappointed in no mask on the server and cook..
